Lip collection

Hi everyone!

Hope you are enjoying the spring time and lots of sunshine (and using your SPF of course). Today I wanted to tackle my lip collection. I have realized over time that I am not big lipstick person. I have a couple of favorites, I like some formulas, but I have learned that I prefer lip glosses and tinted lip balms in general. I have tried to love liquid lipsticks in the past, but never found the formula or the color that I would be happy with. That is the reason I don’t own any and probably never will. I just don’t have the need for something super long wearing, plus we are still wearing masks anyways.

I do like all of these lipsticks. Lisa Eldridge made a really great formula with her velvet lipsticks. I have two shades (Velvet ribbon and Fawn) and the third one is her luxuriously lucent lip formula (Love of my life). Kosas also makes really beautiful lipsticks, so this little mini trio makes me perfectly happy when I want to dabble into them. Covergirl lipstick is a very nice color (Honeyed bloom) and it makes me think of the times we went traveling, since I bought it in Las Vegas. Good times. The last one is from Marc Jacobs. The shade looked very pretty online and it is a perfect spring color. I think the only formula I would possibly want to try is from Bite Beauty, but I never have good luck with their colors. Although, they all look very wearable, somehow I have never found the perfect one.

Over the years, I have paired down my lip gloss and lip oil collection. These are my favorite formulas, with the exception of Alamar cosmetics. I don’t like it because it is too sticky for me. Smells great and it is a nice shade, but way to sticky so I will use it up and that is it. Fenty gloss bombs are also some of my favorite, but I have used up the two that I had. Once I reduce this number a little, I will probably repurchase Fussy shade again. Nyx butter gloss-a classic. I have Madelaine at the moment, but Crème brulee, Tiramisu, Fortune cookie are all the colors I would buy again. Tower 28 is a nice light formula. Thy don’t last too long on the lips, so you need to reapply often, but I love the colors and the formula a lot. Kosas has the best smelling formula that feels super nourishing on the lips. EM cosmetics is one of those brands that makes everything right including the glosses. The color payoff is more intense than some other glosses, but that is only a plus. Lastly, Lawless was the newest edition in December to my collection. They are described as plumping glosses. However, there is nothing painful or too intense in their formula. It really just smooths the lips and looks very luxurious on the lips. If you want the more intense tingle, you should try Buxom lip polish glosses. Some of the best out there. I loved White russian and Dolly, but don’t have them in my collection at the moment. Maybe in the future. They always go on sale during holidays or during Ulta 21 days of beauty.

As for lip balms and lip butters, I have found that my favorite is from EM cosmetics. I have the one in Magic hour. Super creamy, balmy, nourishing and exceptionally pretty on the lips. Very similar to them are the Tarte juicy lip balms. Also, click pen kind of packaging that just hugs your lips and nourishes them while giving you a pretty color. They have a variety of wearable shades to chose from. I have bought a pack of four last summer/fall so they were a good buy. Kosas makes also a good formula with these flat looking balms. They have a good color payoff, smell minty and feel nice on the lips. Milk makeup was a purchase from a couple years ago. Not sure they make this line anymore, but my shade was in cannatonic-pretty pinkish wearable shade. It had hemp oil and felt good on the lips. Spoiler alert, I did use that one up recently. The only one I am meh about is the Honest beauty tinted lip balms. While I like the colors, the formula is a bit on a dryer side. You really need to swipe it many times for the color to appear on the lips or to feel like you have a barrier of a balm. I would not repurchase these and will not miss them when they are gone.

Lip liners are one category that I am using more these days. I try to make an effort to add them especially under the glosses, as it make them last longer. I have one red lip liner, since I have one red lipstick and it is from Essence. Super creamy nice formula. You can honestly wear it as a lipstick. Kitten and Teddy are the lip liners from EM cosmetics. Very creamy and lux feeling liners. NYX makes some of the best lip liners, not just drugstore, but overall. They have so many shades to choose from. While these are not retractable liners (you have to sharpen them), they are very long lasting since they are a bit less creamy. However, very happy with the formula. Milani lip liner in shade 03 nude is probably my favorite shade. It pairs well with all the lipsticks: warm, neutral and cool. It is also the type you need to sharpen, but I don’t mind that at all. The last edition was Lisa Eldridge lip liner in Petal. I was going to buy the petal lipstick, but it was sold out. I am happy with this springy shade and I have been enjoying it very much. It lasts a long time on my lips and can also be worn as a full on lipstick. Lisa can do no wrong.

Lastly, lip balms are always great to have in a purse weather you are skiing or you are on the beach. Wind, sun, UV rays….our lips take a beat, so it I always have some form of lip balm near by. Non of these are my absolute favorites, but they get the job done, especially Kopari, but Kopari is a bit of a pricey brand. EOS is not my favorite, but it will get used up eventually.

I can see a number of lip products that will be used up this year. Stay tuned to see how it goes. In the meantime, hope you enjoy your rays of sunshine and have a great day.

Talk to you soon! XOXO Iva
