• Recap of 2023: Used and decluttered makeup

Here we are again. Getting ready to see off 2023 and count up the make up that will leave my drawer. I have two drawers for all of my makeup, one for eyeshadow palettes and the other one for everything else. They are nicely organized and I can see everything I have. Let’s start with the make up I used up and the ones that have unfortunately expired in the process.  One setting spray from Charlotte Tilbury. I make a point of having only one setting spray at the time, but sometimes some samples find the way into my collection. This was not my favorite as it felt like a hairspray of my face. Two eyeshadows: the stick type from Trive causmetics which is very nice brightening shade. I liked it, however I don’t miss it. The other one was from Colorpop in the shade Koosh. I actually got two…

  • Color Analysis

Recently, I used a professional studio to do my color analysis and it was really interesting. I knew a little bit about color theory through school and art and I have seen businesses that provide this kind of service, but I finally got curious enough to see what my best colors are. I have come across the youtube channel called Color Analysis Studio. The channel is run by Giulia and Alessandra, two Italians who live in Melbourne, Australia and do these kind of color analysis professionally. I really liked their videos and their energy, so when I realized that the color analysis can be done online, I reached out and scheduled my analysis. If anyone is curious about it, here is the link to their website: https://colouranalysis.au/ There are all the guidelines that you need, if you want to use their service, like I did. This is not sponsored, I…

  • Facial Cleansers

I had the best summer of my life. My best friend came for a visit for two weeks and we had an amazing time in Puerto Rico. The other amazing thing is that I have completed my MA studies. It is nice to have that wrapped up and be free again. So, I welcomed the fall with more free time and more focused on my husband and our doggies. I thought it was time to write a bit again. Today, while getting ready for the day, I realized I had tried and used up some new face cleansers so I thought it would be a good topic to write about. My favorite cleansers are still from Skintegra, but I have found some new amazing options for then I am outside of Europe. One of them is from Beauty of Joseon Radiance cleansing balm. I always have a soft spot for…

  • Mindful consumption

Hi everyone, Feels like the January went way too fast this year. I have been dragging this cold throughout most of it. I inevitably got into extra reading, being cozy at home and drinking lots of tea while snuggling our doggos. I got into organizing and sorting and that got me thinking about the input and output of make up for the previous year. I have written about the yearly empties in my last blog, so I had a good idea of what I have used up, the number of products and overall retail value. I have counted the makeup I have brought in 2022, while being on a low buy/replacement items buy. I have brought 25 new products into my collection. I did get some products that I just couldn’t resist, like Lisa Eldridge liquid eyeshadows. She always hits the home run with her products. She is very intentional…

  • What have I used up in 2022?

Hi everyone! It is that time of the year when I inevitably clean my cabinets and do the math on my makeup consumption. I am trying to downsize a bit and use up what I have without immediately replacing used up products. It is easy to reward oneself with a new product after you have finished one, but chances are that there are other products in the same category in your collection that could be used up as well. That was my mindset this year. Also, I was hoping to be more mindful about the expiration dates on the products, use up what I can, but without forcing myself to risk eye or skin problems just to be able to say “I have used it all up”. Without further ado, let’s get into it. I finished three primers. Not all of them were new and some had a decent dent…

  • Happy News!

Hi everyone, Today’s post will be a little different. I have been distracted for a long time, as life got in the way. All for a good reason. We got a new addition to our family. His name is Meowsy and he is the sweetest ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel boy. He is 3 months old and we could not be happier he has entered out lives. We wanted to get a sibling for Moo for a while now, and he just came to our lives at the perfect time. He was born on September 18th and his is one of 4 siblings. Meowsy and his brother were the smallest in the litter, but with time and love, they caught up with their sisters and all grew up to be healthy and happy puppies. He is such a darling. Just the cutest little happiest boy. He is eating well and…

  • Eye shadow palette collection

Hi everyone! Hope you are well on this warm late spring day. Today I wanted to round up my make up collection posts with the overview of my eye shadow palettes. These are all the palettes that are with me with at any given time. I do have a couple of more palettes in my home town, but those will have to wait for some other occasion to be presented. I have tried to organize them by size and brand (not quite like Monika who organizes her stuff in 11 categories 🙂 but close enough). Lime Crime Venus XL II entered my collection late last year but has quickly become one of my favorites. I have been eying it for a while, heard people talk about it on occasions (it is by no mean a new release), often with polarizing opinions. However, the color story was so pretty that, once…

  • Lip collection

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying the spring time and lots of sunshine (and using your SPF of course). Today I wanted to tackle my lip collection. I have realized over time that I am not big lipstick person. I have a couple of favorites, I like some formulas, but I have learned that I prefer lip glosses and tinted lip balms in general. I have tried to love liquid lipsticks in the past, but never found the formula or the color that I would be happy with. That is the reason I don’t own any and probably never will. I just don’t have the need for something super long wearing, plus we are still wearing masks anyways. I do like all of these lipsticks. Lisa Eldridge made a really great formula with her velvet lipsticks. I have two shades (Velvet ribbon and Fawn) and the third one is her…

  • Makeup collection – cheek products

Hi everyone! Ulta has posted 21 days of beauty sale and the good news is that I don’t have any urges to shop. Nothing is calling my name, so I am doing really well in this no buy. I thought there might be some powder foundation or tempting cheek products, but I am just immune to all that at the moment. Every once in a while I get some samples, but often I even skip getting the samples of any kind. I like this zen mode I am in. Well, aside Ulta and Sephora’s upcoming sale, I wanted to tackle my collection of cheek products. I am quite content with my collection. I don’t end up wearing makeup every day as we run, play tennis, go to the beach or I do zumba, so it is silly to be wearing makeup in those times. As you can see, I have…

  • Make up collection 2022

Hi everyone! Around this time a year, with spring around the corner, I get the itch to try out new products on the market. I have a couple of Elf and Essence products on my wish list. However, when I get that urge to do more than window shopping, I try to take a look at my collection. This time around, I thought it might be fun to document the state of my collection in order to prevent myself from breaking my no-buy. I still have products in each make up category, so it not time to shop. I thought I would cover base face and eye products in this blog post and take notes of what not to shop. I currently have 4 primers, one being a mini product. Becca is almost finished, so I am looking forward to start using the Milani primer soon. I can see myself…
