While I try to be reasonable and keep a pace of not overbuying, I do still try out new products. I am much less shy about returning stuff I don’t like or pass them along if they don’t work for me. Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I hope it will be a good one and memorable in the best possible way. As promised, here is the look into my current makeup collection. I have a lot of new, fresh products that I bought last year and now they make for most of my collections. I actually have only 8 products that are older than 2025, so I am excited to dive into this new fresh collection after long years of panning. I feel like I have really earned this and that I am starting New Year with an exciting collection. First of all here is an overview of my makeup. Quite the journey this year! For someone on the low buy/mindful buy, I sure moved a lot of products in and out of my collection this year. I started the year with 76 products with the hope that I would use up a lot of it throughout the year (especially the items that were getting older) and further reduce my collection. The good news is that I am at currently owning 45 products (plus three backups). The other good news is that I have used up 48 products this year-maybe not to the last drop, but to the point I felt comfortable tossing the rest little bit of the product due to age or change in the formula. Despite the low buy, I made some damage to my wallet and got some new products this year. Some of them are amazing, quick holly grail status already as I am using them, others have not been great and may have left my collection already. Some of them have been used up during this year, but we will save that part for a next post I will write about soon. Let’s do some numbers first. I tried out whooping 76 new products this year. Some of them were gifts with purchase or free samples, most of them bought at some discounts, but nevertheless I have spent money on these products. As I am getting to know my preferences more and more, and as my skin is changing over the years, I need to get more real with myself. I don’t like shimmer on my face or glitter on my eyes. I don’t like too much glow in my base. I prefer a satin or natural finish. I don’t like bold colors nor pink color on my face. I have been slowly stepping away from buying things that don’t suit me, but every once in a while I fall in some kind of trap. We were traveling and my suitcase got lost. For 4 days I didn’t know where it was or will I get it back since it was not in the tracking system. Previously, when our bags got delayed, they always immediately showed up in the system as being delayed and we would know that our luggage had a little extra trip. This time it was different. I must admit I was losing hope. 95% of that suitcase content were my belongings and on top of that, it was all of my favorite things. My favorite clothes, my art supplies and yes, majority of my makeup. I had my eyeshadow palettes and some fragile blushes in the carry on, but everything else was in that bright green suitcase (for which I believed it had low chance of getting lost due to its bright color). We are planning to travel a bit soon. As I am packing, I always try to think about what I am using and if something is sitting in my collection unused. The perk of having a smallish collections is that you don’t need to choose your favorite products and decide what to bring along for a vacation. You can just pack it all up in a single toiletry bag and have it with you in any situation. However, I noticed that there are a few products that I am not using, so I wanted to highlight them before I pass them along. I am not utilizing the Charlotte Tilbury blushes. Lisa Eldridge made a new summer collection and among them there was this beautiful eyeshadow palette called Desert Gleam. The shades look spectacular. I took a long look at the shades that I have, that I would actually want to use and that would suit me, so instead of buying a full palette with six new tempting shades, I bought two single shades to add to, what used to be, my Cinnabar palette. I have added Sahara and Ablaze and swapped the existing shades that were in the top row: Bronzite (warm copper) and Fired Earth (dark brown). I figured I don’t need two dark browns in the palette as I was gravitating more towards Deep Ochre that is in the bottom row in case I was using something dark. Hi everyone, As my makeup collections is getting smaller, I am actually having way more fun using it. I have bought some new products this year (there was a Sephora sale already this year after all), so I am at the point that I have a very curated makeup collection that I love. However, after the last declutter, I was able to find some holy grails products within my collection that I use all the time, so I had a chance to weed out the products that would work better for someone else.
