Shower gels and body scrubs

Hi everyone,

I wanted to talk about the shower gels and scrubs today. I love to shower and I always find it therapeutic. That feeling in the evening when you step into the shower and the warm water runs down your body… and it is especially nice after a good run or a workout. So, what I am looking for in a good body soap/gel is that it is nourishing to maintain the integrity of my skin, good lather without stripping my skin and a great smell that lingers a bit.

Over the years, I have saved the photos of the gels that I have used and used up, so let’s start in no particular order.

I have tried a few bath and Bodywork gels. They have an array of appealing scents. As a shower gel, I found them to be average. I learned along the way they are not cruelty free and they have some questionable ingredients, so I never went back to purchase them. They also tend to be overpriced if you don’t get them on some kind of sale or offer.

FAB bump erase gel was a nice gel. I don’t suffer from KP, but I thought I would give it a try. I liked the lather and liked the scent but not so much that I would buy it again. It was good while it lasted but nothing more than that. Maybe it really marked a difference for someone with KP and it is a necessity for them, but for me it was just a regular shower gel

Kopari body wash was quite the experience. I loved the smell of it and how nourishing it is. If you have a very soft water like we do in our house, then you will need a bit of time to rinse it off of your skin, but I loved how it made my skin very soft and nourished that I could skip the body cream afterwards. It didn’t make my skin itch and it didn’t leave the shower goopy since it is an oil based product. I would buy it again.

Kosas good body skin was not very memorable. I didn’t like the scent of it. They describe it as a fresh and it smelled like something that you would use after the gym and not for a luxury shower experience. It was overpriced for a shower gel and I understand that it has all those acids to help your skin exfoliate and seem less flaky, but as I don’t struggle with that, so maybe I wasn’t the ideal audience for it. I definitely wouldn’t buy it again. (just like their deodorant which also didn’t work for me).

Native body wash was a very nice shower gel. I like that they have a small list of the ingredients on the bottle which always makes me happy. I really liked this eucalyptus & mint scent. It really felt my skin was clean and refreshed but not striped. The bottle is huge and it will last you a while. They have an array of scents and choose wisely as you will be smelling it for a while in the shower. And the price is great at 10$ for such a huge bottle.

Soap and glory was my favorite shower gel for a while. I went through two bottles and they are huge. I love this scent that feels very luxurious and it was very nourishing on the skin. It seems like a cream based product, it has a nice pink color and makes your whole bathroom smell like heaven. I did get tired of it after using two bottles in a row, but I will definitely come back to it as its formula was very nice on the skin.

I love Tree hut products. I like their shave oils but have realized they are not a necessity in my shower routine. I preferred Tropic Glow scent over Lime coconut. Tropic glow line smells like the famous Sol de Janeiro Bum bum line. Their body scrub lines are where they shine for me. I loved every scent that I got so far. (I do my research before shopping and so far so great!). I loved Coco colada, and Tropic Glow. I had their Vitamin C scrub as well which was also very nice. They have also smaller cute packagaings of holidays scents, and whatever you chose, you can’t go wrong. They are great for exfoliating your skin. They are sugar based and will not make your shower icky or goopy. And the smells are just divine. I want to hand out in my bathroom once I am done showering. Their shower gels are great too, but scrubs are really special…and so affordable!

Ulta in house brand has some great products that are cruelty free. Don’t skip on their shower line. They are simple and functional and great bang for your buck. I like the formula and the scents, especially the Black salt vanilla. The other two were really nice as well.

Now days I use mostly Dove. You can’t go wrong with it. They are creamy, nourishing and luxury feeling. They have many scents to choose from and they are affordable, plus I can smell it on my skin for a while. They make my skin silky and smooth. Simple, effective and great!

My all time favorite is Rituals of Dao foaming wash. That is a true spa feeling. Over the years I have tried several scents and they never disappoint. They are nourishing, exquisite and super interesting as you don’t often come across the foam body cleanser. I love their scents and if I could use only one brand forever, it would be Rituals of Dao. I have a hard time getting my hands on them as we live on the island and the packaging is in an aerosol bottle, so that makes it hard to aquire. Maybe that is what makes it even more special when I get one traveling and using. It teleports me to a zen mode and I cherish every moment of it.

What is your favorite body wash and why? Let me know so I can try it out as well.

Hope you have a great day and talk to you soon!

XOXO, Iva
