Refreshing my Lisa Eldridge Cinnabar palette

Hi everyone,

Ever since I have downsized my makeup collection, I have been utilizing it so much more. I wear make up more often, but in a more understated way (not that I was ever that extravagant with my looks before). I don’t get overwhelmed with choices in my collection as I got to know my products really well, I know how they perform and I what I love about them. It is an ongoing process of course and it makes me really happy.

I have made some good progress on the products this year just by using them organically. I already have some empties and I have decluttered some things I don’t utilize enough, but I will talk about it in the future blogs.  I have come to know the things I like and don’t like in my collection and my goal is to have a collection where I love everything about it. So let’s talk about the only eyeshadow palette I have from Lisa Eldridge.

I love my Cinnabar palette, but there is one shade I never utilize, apart from swatching it every once in a while. It is called Lost summer and you can see it already removed from my palette in the photo. Here are also the swatches of the 6 shades (Ritual is very faint as it is a top coat but it is there) and the Lost Summer swatched above them.

When swatched, Lost Summer is similar to Bronzite from the same palette, but Lost Summer translates so red and intense on me, to the point that it is too much for my liking. If I will go for a bolder, warmer shade, I will always reach for Bronzite instead of Lost Summer. So, when Lisa Eldridge came up with limited edition palette called Betty earlier this year, there was one shade I was drawn to that is called High maintenance (it is fourth shade in the swatches). It is a very pretty peachy gold shade that I thought would look perfect in my existing palette. None of the other shades in this new Betty palette really appealed to me for my skintone and undertone, so I bought just a single shadow with the idea of swapping it in my Cinnabar palette where the Lost Summer shade used to live. I am so happy with the look of this palette now and I reach for it even more. Maybe in the future I will swap Fired Earth for something new when she releases new palettes, but so far I am really happy with this new look of my edited Cinnabar palette. This is just an example of how one little detail can make such a cool difference in this palette, to the point that it feel like I have a new eyeshadow palette to play with.

I wish more brands would sell individual pans for the palettes, so you can swap the shades you know you will use more, or refill them when you use them up. I love this concept from Lisa. She is always at the top of her game, but we all know that already and that’s why we love her innovative products so much.

Hope you are having lovely Easter Holidays and I will talk to you soon.

XOXO, Iva
