My current makeup collection
Hi everyone,
As I have mentioned, today’s post is going to be about my makeup collection. So without further ado, let’s jump right into it.
I have 3 primers. As times goes by, I think I don’t really need primers in my collection. I have had this Charlotte Tilbury multi use product since January 2019 and I am finally getting to the end of it. I like it, but I don’t actually need it in my life after I use it up. The same goes for Stivectin primer. I bought it half off from Ulta last spring sale, and (only) because it was half off. It is nice but I don’t need a smoothing primer in my collection. I will probably use it up by the end of the year so the only one in my collection will be this Elf mini primer. I quite like it, but I think I will just use my sunscreen as the priming step, use glowy ones if I feel like I need more glow or more satin or mate sunscreen to serve the purpose of primers. I don’t see myself having this category of products next year after I finish this Elf primer.
I have two foundation based type of products. My all time favorite skin tint is by Lisa Eldridge and I have it in the shade T6. I am really happy with this product and I don’t plan on chasing more foundation type of products. The other one is Laura Geller powder foundation. I am always intrigued by this type of products so I like having it in my collection. It always looks to flawless on other people, this powder that melts into creamy foundation with your skin. I need to find a good brush for the application and I think it would work great in the warm climate that I live in. I need to use it more. Overall, I am happy with this category.
I have two face powders and both are the mini versions. I use them both and like them on my face. They are smooth looking and blend into my complexion very well. I also have a face palette from Hourglass that has two face powders, so I am set for a while now. I have had this Hourglass palette for couple of years now. They always come out with a holiday edition and I really like my version of it. The only part I don’t use so much is the purple blush, but all the other ones are very much suitable for my skin.
I have 3 concealers and one of them is less utilized because it is in a powder form. I do like it though. The other two are just great concealers that work both under eyes and all over the face for no makeup kind of days. Natasha Denona is from the last spring and Tower 28 is from this year. I will use them up for sure, or as long as they are not expired, especially now when I have a curated collection.
I also have a small bronzer collection. One cream bronzer from Makeup by Mario in the shade Light, powder bronzer Chocolate Sundae from Essence and a contour stick in the lightest color by Victoria Beckham. I like the tones of them as they are neutral and they work well on my light skintone. Also, there is a bronzer in Hourglass face palette if I want more of a glowy version.
Oh, the blushes. As much as I have pared down my collection, I still somehow have 12 blushes. It is a lot considering how long it takes to go through one blush. I do like my collection of 6 powder and 6 cream type blushes in a variety of tones that suit me. However, I can see there are some repeating shades and I could pair it down a bit. For now, I do like them and I try to use them all, but I may declutter one or two in the end of the year, so none of them go to waste collecting dust.
I have 3 highlighters. I think that is plenty considering I don’t even use highlight so much any more. Especially if I use a glowy blush, I will skip the highlighter that day. Essence Pure nude highlight is very reminiscent of the Hourglass powders. I think it is a touch too dark for me, but I was still using it. It is on the older side as well. I might declutter it in the future. Becca moonstone might be used up by the end of the year and that would leave me with Champagne pop for the next years. I don’t see myself buying more highlights anytime soon.
I have been using these two mascaras from Elf, both are in brown versions. I like how they look on me and they don’t smudge on me which is fantastic. I just used up Tower 28 mascara also in brown version, but these ones are more affordable and just as good so I will stick to Elf one for a while. I am curious about the new EM Cosmetics mascara, but you can’t beat ELF prices.
I have three eyeliners, all in non black versions. One is a liquid liner in true brown color from Fenty. I am trying to get better using the liquid liner and eventually I gave up on using it as a wing liner (as I can’t do it, especially not symmetrically). I just use it very closely to my lash line withouth making any kind of wing. Makes my eyelashes look thicker and nicer. Two other liners are pencil liners from Lisa Eldridge in brown and gold color. Both very flattering on my eyes and these three liners are all I could ever need.
I have 3 brow products. I have been using Ulta brow pencil and just bought Kosas micro pencil as I wanted to try it and it was 50% off. Both are great and I don’t need much in my brows since I wear bangs. Rare beauty is a great brow gel and having it in a clear version is perfect for me.
I have an About face primer in my collection, but it is on the older side so I will probably retire it in the end of the year. I bought NYX jumbo pencil as a base for some eyeshadows, but I haven’t used it much at all, so I can see this category soon becoming obsolete. I don’t think I have a need for eye primers, but for now, this is what I have.
I like single shadows and I have 4 in my collection. Two from Lisa Eldridge: Daphne and Phoebe, Space cowboy from Urban Decay and one super old one from Charlotte Tilbury which is still going strong. It is called Marie Antoinette. That’s how old it as it has since been renamed to Oyster pearl. It is a great one and done eyeshadow and it is still creamy.
I have 17 eyeshadow palettes and one z palette with 11 single shadows (most of those singles are from Colorpop). Over the years, I have learned what looks good on me, what color stories to stick to and I this is my current collection. It is still a lot, more than I can realistically use up. There is a good selection of natural earthy colors. I love Natasha Denona formula and Dose of colors are just what I was looking for. Lisa Eldridge of course nails everything with her formula. That said, in the end of the year I will re-evaluate my palettes and see what can be paired down. I have been using every palette over the last few weeks trying to really determine what looks best on me and what I am drawn to. I think I could be more selective. On the other hand, I am also really drawn to the newer Natasha Denona I need a warm nude palette and I haven’t purchased a single new palette this year. If I bring that one in, I think I can rethink what I have and pair down my collection.
And the final category is the lips. I have two lip liners at the moment: Kokie in warm nude and Lisa Eldridge in 1W and frankly they are almost the same shade. I like them both and will use up both. I have 4 lipsticks and 3 of them are by Lisa Eldridge: Kitten Mischief, Je ne sais qua and Le mepris. The last one is CT in the shade Dance Princess. All of them are from last year, so fairly new, and I can see them lasting me well for a while.
I have 4 lip glosses/oils which is the least I have had in years and it feels so good. Elf lip oil is the shade Coral Fixation, Rare Beauty is Nearly neutral, Em cosmetics (was gift with purchase) in the shade Daydream and Lisa Eldridge in the shade Songbird. Love them all and utilize them all. The last 3 lip products are lip balms. My newest edition is Lisa Eldridge Red curve which is in its way to me, so not in the photo. I bought it recently since I loved the formula of the shade Meet Cute (in the photo). Hourglass glossy balm is from the last year and it is also a great formula and a nice shade named Sense that suits me. I have a very curated lip collection now and it feels great.
I am in a good place with my makeup consumption and I plan to continue to only buy the things I absolutely love and think they would look good on me. Life is too short for bad makeup days.
Are you happy with your makeup collection? Do you use all of your products and regularly use them up? What are some of your favorite products?
I hope you have a wonderful day and talk to you soon!
XOXO, Iva
