More decluttering due to a color analysis
Hi everyone,
We are in the summer time and it is really hot where I live so I have been inside the house most of the day and just doing light activities in the evening when it is still hot but the sun is not blazing in my eyes.
I have been down the rabbit hole with the color theory again and refined my makeup collection even more. So, today’s blog will be a short one. I have realized that no matter how much I loved these products, they are not right for me, so I decided to let them go to a new home, to a friend that would look amazing wearing these, enhancing her beauty even more.
I love Natasha Denona’s palettes. I have loved these for a while. These were always the colors of the shadows I would gravitate to when I thought I knew what colors suit me. Boy, I was wrong. As much as I love these pinks and silvers, they don’t give me the best look. My eyes look tired and those colors just don’t shine on my eyes and they don’t make them sparkle like some other colors. Sure, there are a few shadows in here that I could make work, but that is the thing: I don’t want to have to work hard for a simple look. I don’t want to keep a 5 pan eyeshadow just because one shadow there works OK on me. I can admire the color story and appreciate that it is beautiful, but not on me. Same goes for these two Hourglass blushes. I love those colors, but they don’t compliment my undertone and intensity.
Little Ulta face stack is such good formula and it comes in this cute compact size where you have a full face: highlighter, bronzer and a blush. While bronzer was great for me, highlight was just OK and this blush is not a good color on me.
I really liked this Covergirl Simply ageless skin perfecting essence, but I made a mistake of buying a shade too light. I was so excited when it landed to the stores, that I took the wrong shade from the shelf even though I did my research and should have taken light-medium, shade 30 (and not light 20). I guess this label with 30 on the bottom (where it says 30….ml) made it so I saw what I wanted to see.
I passed on two Lisa Eldridge products: one eyeshadow in color Anais, which looked much cooler toned on me that it should have and one lip liner that it was much pinker. I bought right before my color analysis and made a mistake…of course.
Rare beauty blush in the shade Hope is way to pink and intense on me. I have bought the right shade in the meantime that I am keeping (shade Virtue in the mini size as well).
One NYX eyeliner in rosegold, as I was not too excited how it looked on me and it had sparkles. I am steering away from sparkling pink things, so Natasha Denona highlighter was a clear choice for declutter. It was too intense and too pink on me. I am sticking to slight golden and peachy tones for the highlighters now.
Finally, my beloved Praline lipstick from Bite beauty, that I got on a final sale when they closed. It was in the shade Praline. Beautiful shade and amazing formula for a matte lipstick but too cool toned for me. I never had luck with Bite beauty lipsticks and those multi-sticks back in the day. They always looked so nice online and on other people but just so off on me due to the undertones.
So, lucky 13 has left my collection due to my poor shopping choices over the years. Mistakes were made, lessons were learned and now we go on a bit wiser.
I have to add that I was in Sephora couple of weeks ago and after probably an hour of cruising around, swatching products that were on my wish list for a long time, I walked out without buying anything. I was really happy. I don’t always have a chance to buy in a brick and mortar store, so having to see and experience the formulas and shades in person really helps to make good decisions.
Hope you are having a great day and talk to you soon!
XOXO, Iva
