• A little pre-travel declutter

We are planning to travel a bit soon. As I am packing, I always try to think about what I am using and if something is sitting in my collection unused. The perk of having a smallish collections is that you don’t need to choose your favorite products and decide what to bring along for a vacation. You can just pack it all up in a single toiletry bag and have it with you in any situation. However, I noticed that there are a few products that I am not using, so I wanted to highlight them before I pass them along. I am not utilizing the Charlotte Tilbury blushes. I have two shades: Ecstasy and First Love. I was so excited to get them (especially with a discounted price). They are nice shades, but I am not using pink blush, even in this warm shade. Ecstasy shade goes for…

  • Another switch up in Lisa Eldridge palette

Lisa Eldridge made a new summer collection and among them there was this beautiful eyeshadow palette called Desert Gleam. The shades look spectacular. I took a long look at the shades that I have, that I would actually want to use and that would suit me, so instead of buying a full palette with six new tempting shades, I bought two single shades to add to, what used to be, my Cinnabar palette. I have added Sahara and Ablaze and swapped the existing shades that were in the top row: Bronzite (warm copper) and Fired Earth (dark brown). I figured I don’t need two dark browns in the palette as I was gravitating more towards Deep Ochre that is in the bottom row in case I was using something dark. I also didn’t wear Bronzite much, and I was much more drawn to this new Ablaze shade that I thought…

  • Fine tuning of my collection

Hi everyone, As my makeup collections is getting smaller, I am actually having way more fun using it. I have bought some new products this year (there was a Sephora sale already this year after all), so I am at the point that I have a very curated makeup collection that I love. However, after the last declutter, I was able to find some holy grails products within my collection that I use all the time, so I had a chance to weed out the products that would work better for someone else. Having my friend in mind, who is a True autumn and has a light skintone like me, I knew this products would look great on her. They are warmed toned to begin with, so hopefully she will be able to love them as much as I have, but actually use them. All of these products are really…

  • The first declutter of the year

Hi everyone, The spring cleaning is in full swing here at our house, so my makeup went through a bit of a purge process. I love to make sure that the products I am using are up to date and really the products I love. I want to be sure to have a good make up day even if I reach blindfolded into my makeup drawer. So, what is leaving my collection? I have noticed that some products are really out of date and I just don’t want to put them on my face anymore. In this category we have Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to mesmerize in Marie Antoinette (it is called Oyster pearl now). Since it is a cream product and I have used quite the chunk of it over the years, I have decided it is time to trash it because I have had it since 2019! Yikes. Essence…

  • Laura Geller-I wanted to love this product

Hi everyone, At the end of the last year, I was excited to get a powder foundation from Laura Geller for a fraction of price due to the December sales. I got the Balance and glow color correcting foundation in Fair. The year prior, I bought her other foundation Balance and brighten in Light and since the tone was not really right for me, this time I went for the fair shade this time hoping I will have found my perfect product. After testing them both for a while I was sad to realize they are just not for me. Both of them pull really orange and too dark on my skin. The undertone is just wrong. Even my husband noticed (without the glasses he wears) that the shade is too dark on me. That was the final push for me to give up on the bad makeup days. I…

  • Refreshing my Lisa Eldridge Cinnabar palette

Hi everyone, Ever since I have downsized my makeup collection, I have been utilizing it so much more. I wear make up more often, but in a more understated way (not that I was ever that extravagant with my looks before). I don’t get overwhelmed with choices in my collection as I got to know my products really well, I know how they perform and I what I love about them. It is an ongoing process of course and it makes me really happy. I have made some good progress on the products this year just by using them organically. I already have some empties and I have decluttered some things I don’t utilize enough, but I will talk about it in the future blogs.  I have come to know the things I like and don’t like in my collection and my goal is to have a collection where I…

  • Makeup empties of 2024

Hi everyone, There is something so satisfying in cleaning up the makeup drawer at the end of the year, taking out used up products and looking at the yearly statistics about my makeup consumption. Well, at last to me that is interesting. I love looking back at the products and see how I loved using something and if I would buy it again. Curating my collection down over the years made me more selective of what I want to buy and use, what is actually buy and use worthy. I have the overall photos of everything I have used up and it is so satisfying to see the use out of it all and I am moving on to the next year to start fresh. Let’s start with some base products. Face products are always kind of a big ticket items. I have used up Charlotte Tilbury pressed powder. It…

  • What did I buy in 2024?

Hi everyone, Did you survive the Black Friday frenzy? I didn’t make a lot of makeup purchases and I am really happy about it. Previously I would use the discounts to try out all the things that intrigued me during the year and justified my purchases by all these discounts. However, I am getting better. I stocked up on some of my staples and replacements, as well as got a few really coveted products that happened to have been discounted. So, in this blog I wanted to talk about what I actually brought into my collection from January to Black Friday sale day. I have bought 25 products that stayed in my collection and 9 that I have either used up during the year or decluttered due to poor shade choices, being freebies or not being suitable for my skin. I have already talked about those 9 products but I…

  • Declutter to Project Beauty Share

Hi everyone, I have been using my eyeshadows a lot lately and I have mentioned last time, that I see some potential overlap in my collection. I have been experimenting with different eye looks and came to conclusion that I don’t like when my eye shadows look too dark on me. It turns out that my contrast level is low which means that if I wear mid to dark look shadows, it starts to look a bit too dramatic for my taste. I look overdone. I look like I am trying too much and it tends to look heavy on me. With that in mind I have let go of six eyeshadow palettes. I bought Too faced Sweet Peach last year at the final sale since they stopped making it. I thought I would get a lot of use from it, but half of these shades looks really dark on…

  • My current makeup collection

Hi everyone, As I have mentioned, today’s post is going to be about my makeup collection. So without further ado, let’s jump right into it. I have 3 primers. As times goes by, I think I don’t really need primers in my collection. I have had this Charlotte Tilbury multi use product since January 2019 and I am finally getting to the end of it. I like it, but I don’t actually need it in my life after I use it up. The same goes for Stivectin primer. I bought it half off from Ulta last spring sale, and (only) because it was half off. It is nice but I don’t need a smoothing primer in my collection. I will probably use it up by the end of the year so the only one in my collection will be this Elf mini primer. I quite like it, but I think…
